Below is work of mine from our "To The End of Space" show at the Southern Belle this past weekend. They are three and four layer gum bichromate images from the online Apollo Archives created with my homemade exposure unit. This work and the show were in many ways a visual response to the conclusion of the NASA space shuttle program.
We had a great turnout and it was a lot of fun!

Things have started to look up again.  I have procured myself a challenging new job at a florist and can now afford things!  I also have work going in to a show in Minnesota at the Rourke Art Museum http://www.therourke.org/  called "Memory Bone and Myth" as well as our space themed show coming up April 27th at the Southern Belle downtown.  The gum work has been slow but I am experimenting with new paper and have cyanotype chemistry coming in the mail (Using blue paint as a first layer is no longer cutting it).

Above is work for the Springfield Street series I'm developing.  The Land camera can be a bit finicky but when it works, it seems to work very well.
Happy to have Cole back home for a while.

It was fun getting to wander around town with him today even though I had trouble getting the red button that pushes up the rollers on the land camera to pop up.

Also looking forward to working with my father on something! He is the new curator for the Dayton Aviation Trail Parachute Museum and I have been asked to be on the board and be his creative assistant of sorts.  I'm looking forward to working through grant writing, etc... with him.

Below is the start for a show coming up in April at the Southern Belle that I'm very excited about.  It is outer space themed and I have begun a series of gum prints using images from the Project Apollo image archives.  http://www.apolloarchive.com/apollo_gallery.html

The first decent print from my new exposure unit.  It only has cyan and magenta layers so far.

Trying to stay positive seems to be the name of the game at the moment as money is tight and jobs are few. I have applied to two grad schools and am really hoping to get in to one specifically.  I am trying to apply for shows even though money is lacking and am thinking about getting my master's in education to teach art.  A show with the theme of outer space may be happening in the near future  and one of the things cheering me up lately has been Cole's Land camera which he is graciously sharing with me.  I got my exposure unit working which is fantastic! (I only spent around $150 making it) but miss taking physical photographs so am considering putting some energy into getting more polaroid film and pursuing this Land camera thing further.
